Sidhu made the statement while addressing a public gathering in Moga in the presence of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

Last week, Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu threatened fast unto death if his party’s government fails to make public the report on the drug menace submitted to the high court by a special task force (STF), the attack coming just days after he, in a display of unity, for the first time shared stage with Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi at a public meeting.

“Jje eh report na kholi Punjab sarkaar ne, taan eh Navjot Sidhu apni deh daav de utey laau, maran vrat tey utter jau. (If the Punjab government does not make the STF report public, then Sidhu will put his life at stake and proceed on fast unto death),” Sidhu announced at a gathering in Moga’s Baghapurana.

Channi was also present on the stage.

The PCC chief, however, did not set a deadline for the government to fulfill the demand.

Addressing the event, Sidhu said, “Lakhs of mothers lost their sons to drugs. An elderly man told me that his grandson ruined his life due to drugs and said that I must get justice for such families…There is no court order which bars making the report public. Who stops you from making it public,” Sidhu asked.

“People need to know why the former CM kept sitting on this report. They should know why former home minister kept sleeping,” he added.

Siddu further said that ‘I tell you today, if the Punjab government does not open this report, then Navjot Singh Sidhu will put his body at stake and will go on hunger strike, go tell you, it should be known that the previous Chief Minister Why did he sleep for four and a half years, it should be found out why the Home Minister kept sleeping, now the government is yours, lakhs of youth have been ruined, lakhs have left the state.

Regarding the sacrilege report, Sidhu said that ‘where the sacrilege took place in the guru, if that report is not even opened, then he will go on a fast unto death’. Let us tell you that in the politics of Congress in Punjab, now the dispute between state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is not taking its name to stop.

The STF report in question was submitted by in a sealed cover to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Sidhu, on the past too had targeted the Congress government in state, demanding that the report be made public and a time-bound investigation be initiated to catch the “big fish responsible for narco-terrorism”.

“Hon’ble HC supplied a copy of STF report on drugs to the government. But instead of proceeding as per law, we are sitting on the STF report since February 2018. Even we have failed to extradite the other accused in this multi-crore drugs case. The solution is to catch and punish the big fish,” he had said.
