Asks officials to imbibe new laws & technology for effective implementation

JAMMU, MARCH 22: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer on Tuesday inaugurated a 6 day workshop for Revenue Officials on ‘disaster mitigation & role of Revenue functionaries and land laws here at Revenue Training Institute (RTI) Gole Gujral.

Principal Revenue Training Institute, Anju Gupta; Regional Director Survey and Land Records, Bhawani Singh Rakwal and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.

In his inaugural address, the Div Com asked officials to imbibe new laws for effective implementation. “The Revenue Department is required to implement new laws and therefore the officers of the Department need more intensive trainings” he added.

He further said that a training workshop is the best mode of imparting training because an officer learns better through Peer Learning which includes interaction with his compeers through cross-talk. He advised the participants to go for intensive cross-talk to fully benefit from the workshop.

Dr Langer further urged the Revenue Officials to work with dedication and resolve public issues on priority. He said that as the digitization of land records has almost been completed, the next crucial task is to issue passbooks to the public.

While giving details of the workshop, Principal RTI informed that 30 revenue officials (Patwaris & Girdawars) from 5 districts including Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhamur and Reasi have been invited for the workshop and they would be trained as master trainers.

“These master trainers will further impart trainings regarding new land laws to the revenue officials in their respective districts” she added.

She informed that the workshop will cover wide range of topics and the detailed lectures would be delivered on the same, like overview of J&K Reorganisation Act 2019, applicability of some central laws, land revenue Act amendments and issuance of various certificates etc.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reasi, Sanjay Badyal; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Udhmpur, Rafiq Ahmed Jaral; and Tehsildars will deliver lectures on the given topics.

Later, the Divisional Commissioner visited the General Record Room Complex to inspect the progress of digitisation of Land Records under Digital India Land Records Modernization Program (DLRMP).

While interacting with the staff, the Div Com was informed that scanning, preservation of revenue documents, data entry of latest Jamabandi and updation with latest mutation records besides digitization of maps with latest data is being done in the complex.

He hoped that computerization would ensure better land record management, minimize land disputes and enhance the overall land record maintenance system in the UT.
